Our Story
1940’s
Cache Creek Foods Founder, William (Bill) A. Shade is shot down over Nazi-occupied France, after serving as one of the most successful American Lieutenant fighter pilots in WWII. He is discovered by a French priest and given refuge in the underground of a monastery until he can escape.
1960s
After a few successful ventures in the food business, Bill (pictured far left) creates Shade Foods in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the help if his wife, Marjorie (pictured center). Shade Foods becomes a leader in chocolate ingredients innovations, and is eventually acquired by Kerry Group.
1970s
Bill & Marjorie purchase a 350-acre walnut orchard by the Cache Creek river in Capay Valley and embrace farm life with their family & Bill’s adopted Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Bear.
1993
Bill sees opportunity in the tree nut ingredients space and creates Cache Creek Foods in Woodland, California.
2002 - Present
Bill's son-in-law, Matthew Morehart assumes operations Cache Creek Foods. Alongside a team of seasoned food manufacturing experts, he helps grow the company into the leading tree nut ingredient supplier it is today.

We also create & scale new ingredients, such as small particle, unroasted nut butters, and full fat, water soluble tree nut powders and instant almond milks.
